Will iphone 7 still work in 2023?

The iPhone 7 will no longer receive major iOS updates. iOS 15 is the last version you'll run. Even counting the new iPhone 13 devices that we just launched, I haven't seen any features that tempted me to buy any of the new ones along the way, and the performance is still good, unlike some of my previous iPhones that are nearing the end of their lives. But it seems that the recently introduced features, APIs, and SDKs have some requirements that can only be compatible with the second-generation iPhone SE and later versions.

While the iPhone 7 may not be compatible with the latest and greatest wireless technology, it's still a reliable device that can keep up with your online adventures. This means that even if the iPhone 7 is technically compatible with a newer iOS, the battery could drain faster, affecting the user experience. Although the iPhone 7 can currently run the latest iOS updates, it may not continue to receive software support for future updates indefinitely. Although Apple hasn't officially declared the end of support for iPhone 7, historical patterns suggest that it could say goodbye to major iOS updates sometime in the coming years.

Fortunately, Apple has a commendable track record when it comes to supporting older devices, and the iPhone 7 is no exception. In a nutshell, the iPhone 7 is going to be quite missing compared to the newer, more modern iPhones. From now on, iOS 14 is compatible with the iPhone 7 and, with the upcoming release of iOS 15, Apple shows no signs of leaving the iPhone 7 behind in the technological dust. Unfortunately not, iOS 15 is the end of the range for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which means that you will no longer be able to use the features available in iOS 16. While the first-generation iPhone SE will continue to work, users may face software incompatibilities and limited support in the future.

So, while your iPhone 7 will continue to work well with the apps you currently have, it might not be compatible with all the shiny new apps that come along.
